Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how to forecast production, evaluate value, and share a decision report

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll continue to have access until the end of your billing period.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and Stripe Link for faster checkout.

Is there a 14-day trial?

Yes. Eligible accounts can start one 14-day Pro or Business trial. A payment method is required, $0 is due today, and the selected plan renews at its monthly or annual price plus applicable tax unless canceled before the trial ends.

What happens to my data if I downgrade?

Your data is never deleted. If you exceed the limits of a lower tier, you'll have read-only access until you upgrade or reduce usage.

Is Petrolytx built for unconventional (shale and tight) plays?

Yes. Our workflows are designed for unconventional decline behavior, type curve generation, and economic evaluation.

What is decline curve analysis?

Decline curve analysis (DCA) is a technique used to forecast future oil and gas production by analyzing historical production trends. Petrolytx supports Arps (exponential, hyperbolic, harmonic), Duong, and modified hyperbolic decline models to estimate EUR (Estimated Ultimate Recovery).

How do I forecast well production?

Import production data in Wells & Projects, open Forecast, compare Arps and Duong fits, and save the forecast you want to use.

What does AI do in Petrolytx?

AI drafts explanations and challenges recommendations in decision reports using cited results. The engineering and economic calculations run in code, and you review the recommendation before recording a decision.

What are type curves and P10/P50/P90?

Type curves are representative production profiles derived from a population of wells. P90 represents a conservative estimate (90% confidence), P50 is the median, and P10 is optimistic (10% confidence). These probabilistic curves help engineers forecast new well performance based on analog wells.

How do I build a type curve?

To build a type curve, select analog wells with similar characteristics, normalize production data, and generate P10/P50/P90 curves. Petrolytx handles normalization automatically and lets you apply curves to forecast new well performance.

How does analog well matching work?

Analog matching compares completion design, geology, location, and production performance to help you find similar wells.

How do I find similar wells for comparison?

Use contextual analog discovery to identify similar wells. It matches wells on completion design, geology, location, and production performance, helping you find the best analogs for forecasting and type curve generation.

What is EUR (Estimated Ultimate Recovery)?

EUR is the total volume of oil or gas expected to be economically recovered from a well over its productive life. Petrolytx calculates EUR by integrating decline curve forecasts to the economic limit, providing crucial data for reserves estimation and asset valuation.

What does EUR mean in oil and gas?

EUR stands for Estimated Ultimate Recovery. It represents the total oil or gas volume a well is expected to produce economically over its lifetime. EUR is calculated by forecasting production decline to the economic limit.

How do I calculate NPV for an oil well?

To calculate NPV, input your economic assumptions (prices, costs, working interest, discount rate), select a production forecast, and run the economic analysis. Petrolytx calculates monthly cash flows, NPV, IRR, and payout period automatically.

What data formats can I import?

Petrolytx supports CSV, Excel, ARIES, and PHDWin formats. Automatic column detection maps the common layouts for these formats, and you can also paste data directly from spreadsheets.

Can I export my analysis?

Yes. Paid plans can export saved analysis to PDF, Excel, CSV, or PowerPoint. Business also includes exports of completed decision reports.

How do I evaluate a group of wells?

Select wells in Wells & Projects, review their forecasts and economics, and save an analysis version. With Business, create a decision report to review the combined results and risks.

Is my well data secure?

Absolutely. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We use Firebase infrastructure with enterprise-grade security, and your data is never shared with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
